When the East End villains Krays moved up west to Knightsbridge

In July 1964, our sister paper the Sunday Mirror ran a story hinting that Ronnie Kray was having a sexual relationship with Tory politician Lord Boothby. Neither man was named in the piece but Boothby threatened to sue the newspaper with the help of Harold Wilson’s crooked solicitor Arnold Goodman. The Sunday Mirror backed down and paid Boothby £40,000 in an out-of-court settlement. James Morton has written the definitive biography of the Krays.
