Tourist tax BACKFIRES: Panicked Majorca hotels say bookings have PLUNGED as levy DOUBLES
TOURISM businesses in Majorca, including hotels and restaurants, say their profits are plummeting due to renewed competition from Turkey, Egypt and Greece and the islands’ new doubled tourism tax. Hotel reservations for July, August and September have dropped so much that discounts of up to 40 per cent are being offered to tempt holidaymakers.
