While I’ve been a bit miffed that The Wasp, who in the comics was one of the founding members of the Avengers, was no where near the Avengers film in the MCU, leaving Black Widow to be the lone main female character on the team at first, I was thrilled to see that the character—or the mantle, at least—appeared first via Ant-Man with the introduction of Hope van Dyne and now more front-and-center as a costumed superhero in Ant-Man and The Wasp. Check out this first glimpse of Evangeline Lilly in costume, which she posted on Twitter in celebration of Jack Kirby’s birthday.
Still waiting on that Black Widow movie, though… (via Birth.Movies.Death.)
- Joshua Witt, who recently told police in Colorado that he was stabbed “for looking like a neo-Nazi,” blaming the stabbing on a “black man in his mid-20s,” admitted that he made the whole thing up. Because racists are horrible. He could now pay a $ 2,500 fine, or go to jail for a year for false reporting to the police. (via The Daily Dot)
- Black Girls Code turned down a $ 125,000 donation from Uber (because Uber is the worst), then ended up raising even more money themselves in 24 hours. Because black girls, and women, are awesome. (via The Daily Dot)
- “Well, fuck me gently with a chainsaw.” There’s a promo for the upcoming original scripted TV adaptation of Heathers. What do you think? And will you be watching? (via Deadline Hollywood)
- Indie comics are stepping up to fight white supremacy. Check out this badass-looking, Kickstarter-funded comic, Harriet Tubman: Demon Slayer, available now on Comixology! (via Blavity)
