The Walking Dead Cast Spoofs the Star Wars Holiday Special For Red Nose Day – Fandom worlds collide!
On Thursday, several stars and shows came together on NBC for Red Nose Day, a charity that raises funds and awareness for children in need around the world through the power of entertainment and comedy. The day, which is organized by the Comic Relief organization, enlisted several celebs to participate in comedy sketches that aired as part of its Red Nose Day special on NBC–and perhaps the biggest highlight of them all was the cast of The Walking Dead.
Co-stars Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus were trying to come up with something to cope with all the “blood and gore” on their show, and in an attempt to do something “lighter” decided to spoof the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special–which is just as awesome as it sounds.
Walking Dead cast members like Steven Yeun, Melissa McBride, David Morrissey and Sonequa Martin-Green joined for the skit–along with a special cameo from Merle’s Hand! Apparently they couldn’t work out who was going to play Han Solo, since actor Dax Shepard and Talking Dead host Chris Hardwick are still fighting over that part.
At the end, though, Reedus and Lincoln decide not to go through with it–but at least we now know what could have been.
