The next generation of astronauts is stepping up to the plate with a bold goal—make it to Mars within their lifetime. The Mars Generation follows a smart group of teens working tirelessly to accomplish such a task and, according to the film, they’re a lot closer than you might think.

As expected, Netflix brought out all the regular commentators within the science community including Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson to share their thoughts on the situation. With our current administration in denial about climate change, this mission is more important than ever. Imagine what would happen if they not only reached the Red Planet, but also figured out a way for humans to live there. At the very least, there’d be no more jokes about having a backup planet just in case we destroy this one. Best case scenario: We remove our heads from the sand and start taking better care of this one. / PSA
