Rock Out to This Mash-Up of the Theme Songs for Stranger Things & Twin Peaks
The similarities between Stranger Things and Twin Peaks aren’t just a coincidence; Twin Peaks was an obvious thematic inspiration for the hit Netflix series. But who knew that Laura Palmer’s theme song from Twin Peaks would end up sounding so incredibly awesome when mashed up with the main title theme from Stranger Things?
This mash-up, put together by Seattle-based synth outfit Prom Queen, can be streamed for free via their Soundcloud, and you can download the file for free from their website.
Prom Queen front-woman Celene Ramadan, a.k.a. Leeni, told Welcome to Twin Peaks: “I have always loved synths. So I fell in love with Stranger Things the first time I heard the theme song. And ‘Laura’s Theme’ is my favorite thing to play on any synthesizer. It’s so beautiful.”
I never would have expected that these two chord progressions could be combined in a way that sounds stunning, haunting, and incredible–but Leeni has done it, and her arrangement sounds absolutely incredible. Definitely give it a listen!
