Facebook-owned Instagram today announced that starting this week, users will be able to switch accounts when using the app on Android and iOS. The feature will be available in version 7.15 of the app, and it allows people to have as many as five accounts logged in at once.

“Go to your profile settings to add an additional account. From there, tap your username at the top of your profile to switch between accounts,” Instagram wrote today in a blog post. “Once you have multiple accounts added, you’ll see your profile photo appear in places throughout the app so you can always tell which one you’re using at the moment.”

In recent days Instagram confirmed that it had been testing out this feature, which was rolled out to Facebook itself years ago.

Instagram has been inching more into the world of advertising, and so it does make sense for people representing companies to be able to switch from personal to corporate accounts and vice versa as they need to.

“If you’ve added multiple Instagram accounts, you may get push notifications from any account that has them turned on,” Instagram said in a support page on the new feature. “This depends on when you last logged in and the number of devices that are logged in to an account.”
