The now defunct Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines are leaking into the Baltic sea following what NATO described as a likely act of -presumably Russian – sabotage. Although the pipes were not delivering gas to Europe, the incident highlights how Putin is flexing his energy chokehold over Europe as the continent braces for winter.
